The management and staff of Greenhills School of Health Science (GSHS), a private health training institution in Accra, have paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Education in-charge of Tertiary, Professor Kwesi Yankah in Accra.

Led by the founder of GSHS, Rev. Dr. Charles Antwi-Boasiako, management also informed the Minister on how the school is working to secure accreditation with the National Accreditation Board (NAB), the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and the Allied Health Professional Council (AHC) to start five degree programmes: BSc Physiotherapy, BSc Medical Laboratory Science, BSc Occupational Therapy, BSc Nursing and BSc Midwifery.

The school is currently running certificate courses in Physiotherapy Assistant, Medical Laboratory Science Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant and Health Care.

Meanwhile, a team of 18 physiotherapists from the George Fox University, USA, an affiliate of the school, are expected to grace the  school’s graduation ceremony which falls on the 3rd June, 2017. They are experts in areas such as sports, musculoskeletal and orthopedics, and stroke. They would be in the country from the 30th May to 13th June, 2017.

Announcing the team of experts’ visit to Professor Kwesi Yankah,  they took the opportunity to invite him to Greenhills School of Health Science’s graduation.

The physiotherapists will embark on free physiotherapy treatments to the general public including those with cerebral palsy cases, spondylosis, arthritis, stroke, waist pains, back pains, knee pains, sports injuries among others. This is part of the school’s corporate social responsibility.

Currently, pre-screening of Ghanaians with such complications is ongoing at the School’s premises behind the Mallam Market.

The founder of GSHS, Rev. Dr. Charles Antwi-Boasiako informed the Minister of Education in-charge of Tertiary that all their courses have been accredited by the appropriate accrediting bodies in the country making it one of the few credible health schools.

He said being the school to produce the first locally trained and professionally certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, Greenhills School of Health Sciences has since 2008 graduated 106 students and is expected to graduate over 100 trainees in various health professions on June 3, 2017.

Professor Yankah on his part commended the school for the good job it is doing for the nation; he was particularly elated by the visit of the 18 physiotherapists and urged them to keep it up.

Prof. Yankah encouraged management to speed up the accreditation process for their degree programmes and promised the school his support and that of his ministry.
