The Managing Director of FirstBanC Financial Services, Mr Amenyo Setordzie, has asked for circumspection on the discussion around the US$2.25 billion bond issued earlier this month. That, he said, was needed to ensure that public commentary on the 15 and 10-year bonds did not return to hurt the economy and the country’s reputation. While dismissing concerns that the coupon rate of 19.75 per cent for the US$2.25 billion bonds was too punitive, Mr Setordzie said the issue of conflict of interest did not arise, given the familiarity of the lead investor, Franklin Templeton Investments (FTI), and one of its directors,…

Your Excellency, One day this year, as I was walking by my perpetually empty locker, I was struck by your memory. I cannot identify what sparked its conception, but as your thoughts started to grow, thinking of possible solutions and analyzing and assessing feasibility issues began to consume me. My late father called this “ripe manifestation” and it was very familiar to me. I’ve experienced it often while collaborating with my team of workers, and in the hours I’ve spent with them on design concepts of a prefabricated work on the relevance of morality to social development, still, nothing I…

Forget about our middle income level status which doesn’t reflect in the well-being of our teeming citizens. Forget also about the international acclaim of this nation as the most democratic country…
