President of the Evangelical Presbyterian University College (EPUC), Reverend Dr Cyril Fayose, has reiterated the call for the review of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) law to support infrastructure development in private tertiary institutions. He appealed to the Government to extend research fund and grants to lecturers at private tertiary institutions and increase students’ loan to enhance quality tertiary education. The Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of Ghana has maintained the policy rate at 25.5 percent after experiencing a decline during the second half of 2016. The committee in a statement on January 23, explained that it “viewed the risks to inflation and growth as balanced and decided to maintain the Monetary Policy Rate at 25.5 percent.” It however said, the Committee will continue to monitor developments and take any necessary action, if required, to achieve the medium term inflation target. The 37 Military Hospital is to conduct a mass burial for 48 unclaimed dead bodies in its morgue, including those who lost their lives in the June 3 twin disaster that caused havoc in Accra in 2015. Families of the deceased have been given 21 days ultimatum from January 23 to show up at the Hospital to identify and claim the bodies or risk mass burial, authorities said in a statement.
