The Auditor-General on Wednesday outlined moves to tighten the noose around audit for the 2019 financial year to include the declaration of assets and liabilities of public office holders in line with the 1992 Constitution. Two persons have been confirmed dead at Mujipe in the North East Gonja District of the Savannah region over payment of royalties on New Year day. The deceased – Alhassan Karim 40 and Ambri Attah 35 – died on the spot from gunshot wounds, Wednesday. Information gathered indicates, some youth from Kpalbusi went to Mujipe which is a farming community to demand royalties from them after the farming season. Former government advisor on corruption and one time Executive Director of the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), Daniel Batidam has died. According to a family source, the anti-corruption campaigner died on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at Mampong in the Eastern Region. The former advisor under the John Mahama administration was said to have been battling cancer and was receiving treatment at a health facility in Mampong. Mr Batidam also served as representative for Ghana on the AU Advisory Board on Corruption.
