The Electoral Commission has said the new voter registration is meant to ensure appropriate and meaningful use of technology to safeguard the efficacy of the ballot count and the acceptance of results. According to the Commission, the quality of the voters’ register played a critical role in the electoral process and an obsolete and incomplete register could not be relied on for an electoral process, which guaranteed the principle of one man, one vote. Bushfires have killed at least seven people in the Australian state of New South Wales since Monday, say police. The latest fires, which raced towards the coast this week, have also destroyed more than 200 homes. The National Labour Commission has assured that all grievances of the Health Services Workers Union will be resolved by February 2020. The assurance follows threats by the union to embark on a strike over some issues including the non payment of increments made to salaries, freezing of negotiated market premiums. The Health Services Workers Union members include those working in the laboratory, mortuary, pharmacy and other divisions in the health sector.
