It has emerged that claims by Mrs Seinye Lulu-Briggs, wife of late High Chief O.B. Lulu-Briggs, that sons of her late husband had appealed against a high court ruling concerning the burial of the High Chief were “false”. A raging fire has swept through nine vehicles, consuming seven of them in a mechanic shop near the old American Embassy at Osu in Accra. Two of the vehicles, a V8 and V6, had their bonnets and engine area burnt in the Sunday afternoon fire that rapidly spread to an adjoining residential building. A three-week-old baby born with spina bifida occulta (spine deformity) in the East Gonja municipality of the Savannah Region is likely to die as his parents are unable to afford a surgical procedure to correct the medical condition. Doctors at the Tamale Teaching Hospital say if the baby does undergo surgery early, he could develop sepsis, a medical emergency that causes the immune system to go into overdrive and attacks the body’s own organs and tissues. At least five people have been stabbed at the house of a rabbi in New York state, police say. The house in Monsey, north of New York City, was hosting a religious celebration when the attacker burst in, according to the Orthodox Jewish Public Affairs Council (OJPAC). Ghana government has lauded the decision by some eight countries in the ECOWAS sub region to cease using CFA franc for the new common currency, the Eco, from 2020.
