The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA) will from Monday, April 27 ensure that it is a must for all persons to were face masks in the metropolis.
This campaign began in the Ashanti Region by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), which deployed a task force to enforce the directive, and was adopted by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).
A statement issued by management of CCMA on Friday said the wearing of face masks will be mandatory in Cape Coast too.
It said this is in compliance with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s directive on the wearing of the masks to slow the spread of coronavirus.
Firstly, all public and private institutions in the metropolis are to ensure that staff and visitors wear the face masks.
“Commercial drivers are to ensure that passengers wear the face masks before they board vehicles.”
Market women, traders, restaurant operators, food vendors and hawkers are not to be left out.
“Management of CCMA advises all public and private institutions including hospitals, clinics, shops, banks, pharmacies, lorry stations, among others to put notices of ‘NO FACE MASK, NO ENTRY’.
As of Friday, the Central Region had recorded nine confirmed cases.
There have, however, been four more cases – two imported from the Greater Accra Region – taking the tally to 13 as of Saturday afternoon.
