Black Stars Head Coach Carlos Queiroz will come face-to-face with his former side tonight at Kansas City Stadium as Ghana play Colombia in the Round of 32 of the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
The Portuguese managed the Colombia national team in 2019/2020 before returning to Africa as Egypt coach.
He hinted at a reunion with some of his former players during the pre-match press conference on Thursday, July 2, insisting that he knows Los Cafeteros too well to make errors in the game.
“I’m fully ready,” Carlos Queiroz said. “I’ve been in this situation a couple of times in different competitions but in a knock-out stage it is something special.”
He, however, disclosed that Ghana’s center back Kojo Oppong Pepra is the only player who will not be available for selection for the game because he could not recover in time for the game.
Ghana face a Colombian side that emerged from a group that had Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal as winners.
They began their Group K campaign with a 3-1 win over Uzbekistan before sealing qualification to the knock-out stage with a 1-0 win over DR Congo.
They then drew goalless with Portugal to reach this stage.
Ghana, on the other hand, beat Panama 1-0 in their first game courtesy a goal by Caleb Yirenkyi before sealing qualification following a goalless draw against England.
They lost their final group game against Croatia but had sealed qualification to the Round of 16 before the game.
Kick-off is 0130GMT on Saturday, July 4.
