The Public Relations Officer of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), George Ayisi, has urged waste management company Zoomlion to make efforts to clear the choked gutters in the country.
He revealed that Zoomlion contractors have gained notoriety for just sweeping and cleaning the surroundings, however refuse to clear the gutters.
This situation, he said, is one of the causes of floods in the country.
Speaking on TV3 Friday, September 11, Mr Ayisi said the government has signed a contract with Zoomlion to keep the surroundings clean and that include clearing the gutters.
But “they only sweep the sides of the gutters. I don’t know if it is not part of their contract”.
He made reference to the choked gutters located opposite the Paloma Hotel on the Ring Road Central and further appealed to the company to turn their attention there.
