Ghana police have arrested three more suspects in connection with a daylight armed robbery at a gold jewellery shop in Adabraka, raising the number of people held over the incident to seven, authorities said on Tuesday.
In a press release dated Jan. 20, 2026, the Ghana Police Service said the latest arrests were made on Sunday, Jan. 19. The suspects were identified as Fatao Mohammed, also known as “Motorway”; Nashiru Abubakari, also known as “Soldier”; and Sadick Abubakar Satire, also known as “50 Cent”.
Police described the three as the main gang leaders behind the robbery syndicate that carried out the attack in the Greater Accra neighbourhood.
The robbery occurred on Nov. 2, 2024, when armed assailants struck the jewellery shop in broad daylight, making off with cash and valuables worth about 7.5 million Ghana cedis, according to police. The incident sparked public concern over violent crime in the capital, particularly attacks targeting businesses during daytime hours.
Authorities said the earlier arrests, combined with the latest operation, mark significant progress in the investigation but stressed that efforts are continuing to identify and apprehend all those involved.
“The Ghana Police Service assures the public that investigations into the Adabraka Gold Jewellery Shop robbery are ongoing,” the statement said, adding that police remain committed to ensuring that every suspect connected to the case faces “the full rigours of the law”.
The statement was signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Richmond Mensah on behalf of the Director-General of Public Affairs.
