Details are emerging that fire officers initially called in to put out Tuesday night’s fire at Accra Academy went there with empty water canons.
It took a second tanker to bring the inferno under control. A total of three tankers were spotted at the school.
It is unclear what the cause of the fire was but it comes almost a fortnight after another fire gutted Alema and Halm Addo halls.
News of the outbreak got to old boys as well as parents, who trooped to the school to get their wards home.
But they were locked out by the security.
Most of the students were said to be at prep when the fire broke out.
They were all asked to congregate at the Nash Park, where the headmaster assured them of their safety.
Those displaced were asked to share beds with mates in other halls of residence.
