The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has announced with deep regret the passing of a 53-year-old Ghanaian pilgrim who collapsed and died at the Haram in Makkah while performing Tawaf.
In a press release dated Friday, May 22 and signed by Mohammed Amin Lamptey, Director of Communications of PAOG, the office confirmed that Mr. Musah Sidi collapsed during Tawaf, the ritualistic act of walking in a circular or circuitous path around the Kabah or sacred space, and passed away shortly afterwards.
The family of the deceased has been duly informed of his passing, with the body being prepared for Jannaza prayers following Jummah prayers before interment.
PAOG offered spiritual context to the circumstances surrounding Mr. Sidi’s death, noting that dying while in a state of worship holds deep significance in Islam.
“Passing away while performing Tawaf is considered a profound blessing and a sign of a beautiful ending for a blessed Muslim. In Islamic tradition, a pilgrim who dies in a state of worship and in Ihram is promised immense spiritual honor in the hereafter,” the statement noted.
The Office extended its deepest condolences to the immediate family, sympathizers and loved ones of the deceased, praying that Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him Jannatul Firdaus.
