The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), has extended the reapplication deadline for Ghanaian gold dealers, previously licensed by the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) or the Ministry of Mines. The new deadline is now May 21, 2025.

At a press briefing held on Wednesday, April 30, the Acting CEO of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, explained, “We initially set today, April 30, as the final date for all PMMC and Ministry license holders to apply for new licenses under the Ghana Gold Board Act.

However, we have observed that many have either not applied or have not completed the application process.”

The Acting CEO noted that while a few applicants have finalized their submissions, to ensure fairness, the board has decided to allow a further three-week grace period.

“We are offering an extension from today, April 30, 2025, to May 21, 2025, to allow all interested and serious individuals to complete their applications,” he added.

Under the new Ghana Gold Board Act, all former gold trading licenses have been rendered invalid.

Sammy Gyamfi emphasized the need for compliance, urging dealers to reapply via the official website, goldbod.gov.gh.

He stressed that applicants must read and accept the terms and conditions, pay the required fee, create an account, and accurately complete the application forms.

Mistakes or omissions could negatively impact the outcome of their application.

He further warned that this latest extension is final.

“This deadline of May 21, 2025, will not be extended again. After this date, only those with valid GoldBod licenses will be permitted to engage in gold trading. Anyone found trading with outdated PMMC or Ministry licenses after May 21 will be committing a criminal offense,” Sammy Gyamfi reiterated.
