In a bid to extend compassionate care and transformative reconstructive surgical interventions, the GRAFT Foundation has announced its upcoming mission to provide free reconstructive surgeries for individuals in need across the Ashanti region of Ghana.

With a legacy spanning 11 years of changing lives, the foundation continues to be a beacon of hope for those seeking essential reconstructive surgical care.

Scheduled to commence from May 31st to June 8th, 2024, at St. Patrick Hospital in Offinso, the initiative aims to offer life-changing surgeries to 100 individuals. These procedures do not only address physical deformities but also contribute to enhancing the overall well-being and confidence of the recipients.

Anomalies to be operated on include but not limited to Cleft Lip & Palate, Macrodactyly, Hernia, Neurofibromatosis, Ectropion, Imperforate Vagina, Hypospadia, Dermoid Cyst, Bifid Thumb, Constriction Band, Lipoma and other swellings.

To ensure comprehensive outreach, patient screening will be conducted from May 1 to 4, 2024 at selected centers across the Ashanti region. The screening centers include St Patrick Hospital, Offinso on 1st May, AGA Health Foundation, Obuasi on 2nd May, Hope Xchange Medical Center, Kumasi on 3rd May and Presbyterian Hospital, Agogo on 4th May. This meticulous approach enables the identification and prioritization of candidates who stand to benefit the most from the surgical interventions.

Dr. Brainerd Anani, Managing Director of the GRAFT Foundation, expressed his unwavering commitment to the mission, stating, “Our goal is not only to address the physical needs of our patients but also to restore their dignity and self-confidence. Every individual deserves the opportunity to live life to the fullest, unencumbered by physical limitations.”

GRAFT Foundation has provided free surgeries for over 2000 patients and is poised to change more lives. This year’s surgical mission represents a testament to the foundation’s ethos of compassion and empowerment.

As preparations for the mission are underway, the foundation is inviting individuals in need of reconstructive surgeries to participate in the screening process.

Dr Anani added that surgeries are free but prospective patients are to present National Health Insurance cards to benefit from the surgeries.

He called on individuals, philanthropists and corporate Ghana to partner GRAFT Foundation in its journey of changing lives.

He mentioned organizations such as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints, Goil, Change Inca Foundation, GCB Bank, Ernest Chemist, Intravenous Infusions, Unicom Chemist and Letap Pharmaceuticals as partners who have come on board for this project.
