Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South Constituency Haruna Iddrisu has taken a swipe at the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) concerning his ongoing ‘Thank You’ tour.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia has been criss-crossing the country on a tour to thank party faithfuls for the resounding victory in the 2024 elections.
Many party members and observers alike had raised eyebrows about Mr Asiedu Nketia’s tour, calling it a subtle campaign tour for his presidential ambitions.
On Friday, May 22 while accompanying the President, John Dramani Mahama, who has also been on a Resetting Ghana tour, a thank you tour of some sort, Haruna Iddrisu took a jab at the “other” tour.
“I recall when President came for his Thank You tour, not the other tour [but] the proper Thank You tour of President Mahama,” he stated.
Cautioned about the import of his statement, the former NDC Youth Organiser continued: “What cannot be said, Mr President, we will say it.”
He went further to describe Mr Asiedu Nketia’s tour as a “curtain raiser tour”.
“A proper Thank You tour of President Mahama not the curtain raiser one.”
