The Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, on Saturday paid a visit to the family of slain investigative journalist Ahmed Suale at Wulensi in the Nanumba South District of the Northern Region.
The visit formed part of a trip to the area during which the Minister first joined the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman in Bimbilla to mourn the passing of his father.
While interacting with the family of Ahmed Suale, Haruna Iddrisu assured them that the government remains committed to pursuing justice and ensuring that those responsible for the journalist’s murder are brought to book.
Addressing Ahmed Suale’s mother, Madam Yakubu Arahamatu, the Minister stated that government would not relent in its efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing.
“God’s justice is worth the wait, and government’s pursuit of justice in this matter is worth pursuing. We will continue to pursue it, we will unravel it, and we pray that God will support us to do so. There are some who think they can run away from justice, but though the wheels of justice may turn tortuously they will ultimately reach their destination and serve the ends of justice,” he said.
Haruna Iddrisu also extended support to the family by assuring Ahmed Suale’s sister of an opportunity to be considered under the Ghana Education Service teacher recruitment process, enabling her to continue supporting the family.
