Ghanaian Gospel musician, Gifty Osei says she met her husband at a funeral where they both kicked things off immediately.

The Award-winning songstress who recently married politician and New Patriotic Party member, Hopeson Adorye, said they first came into contact with each other when they met at a funeral in the United States to support a mutual friend.

“I met my husband at a funeral. I was in US and I met a friend of mine, and she said she had lost her dad and wanted me to come. Apparently, the friend has a relationship with my husband, and we met there.”

Recounting their meeting to Johnnie Hughes on TV3 New Day, Gifty Osei said it was love at first sight when they saw each other.

“It was a connection. When I saw him and he saw me, he said that’s my wife, and I said, that’s my husband, and it just happened,” Empress Gifty as she’s known in Showbiz circles recounted with smiles.

The two got hitched a few months later on December 28, 2019 at a private ceremony in Accra.

Asked if she has any intentions of mounting any NPP campaign platform to support her husband, she said she will only mount a campaign platform to perform as a musician.

She said although she will always play her role as a supportive wife, she is not a politician, and there is no way she will venture into politics.

“My husband is a politician, but I am not a politician, but a musician. I am not going into his lane, and he is also not coming into my lane,” she explained.

Asked why she did not invite most of her friends and colleagues in the music industry, Gifty Osei said she decided to leave certain people out of her new marriage because they were behind the failure of her first marriage.

Although she will not put names to these friends and colleagues who allegedly caused the collapse of her first marriage, Gifty said they are industry people who she thought had her well-being at heart.

“Two reasons why I did not invite them; my first marriage broke form 2012, so I kept quiet and decided not to talk about it. But in 2016/ 2017 I realized that people that I consider as friends, and colleagues are the same people who were behind whatever I was going through.

“I am saying this for a fact. They laugh at me, and they even have meetings, and some will even buy credit and give it to bloggers to write about me. I am daring them, if what I am saying is not true, they should come and deny,” she said.

The songstress noted that she is now very careful about the people she keeps in her close circle because of her previous experience.
