Jubilee House Official Arrested for Misappropriating 18 Excavators and 21 V8 Cars

An employee of the presidency at Jubilee House has been apprehended and detained by the National Investigation Bureau for his involvement in the theft and unauthorized sale of 18 excavators that were under state impoundment, as well as the diversion of at least 21 V8 state vehicles to his personal possession.

Known as ‘Konkonsa’, the appointee was discovered within close proximity to President Akufo-Addo’s office by NIB operatives.

The disclosure was brought to light by Listowel Nana Kusi-Poku, a former member and advocate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which has subsequently stirred significant attention on social media platforms.

During an appearance on Accra FM, Listowel divulged that Konkonsa, who is allegedly related to comedian Afia Schwarzenegger and is politically connected to Chief of Staff Akosua Opare, was strategically placed at Jubilee House as a Transport Officer.

Listowel Nana Poku revealed that prior to his current position, Konkonsa was engaged in the informal sale of pen drives until he crossed paths with Nana Oppong, a former Transport Officer at Jubilee House. Regrettably, Konkonsa’s disloyalty led to Nana Oppong’s dismissal and his subsequent role placement at the Transport office of Jubilee House, under the wing of Frema Osei Opare.

It was during his tenure at Jubilee House that Konkonsa allegedly manipulated his authority to redirect state vehicles, including high-end V8 models, to a private garage he established in Kumasi, located in the Ashanti region.

Profiting from this act of corruption, Konkonsa reportedly leased the stolen vehicles to government officials, particularly those within the presidency seeking additional transport options for official trips.

Additionally, Konkonsa purportedly engaged in the appropriation and auctioning of state assets for personal gain, including the unauthorized sale of 18 excavators seized during the anti-galamsey initiative GALAMSTOP.

His illicit activities allegedly led to substantial wealth accumulation, enabling him to acquire multiple properties in both Accra and Kumasi.

The arrest was prompted after Konkonsa deflated the tires of a V8 luxury car he had bestowed upon his ex-girlfriend, following an episode of romantic dispute.

Upon his apprehension, 21 of the stolen V8 cars were reportedly recovered. Listowel Nana Poku has called for the investigation and potential arrest of Chief of Staff Frema Osei Opare, whom he suspects may have benefitted from the misappropriation.

Listowel, emphasizing that Konkonsa likely did not act alone in his transgressions, advocates for the NIB to interrogate the Chief of Staff as well. Meanwhile, he has expressed his intent to involve the Special Prosecutor in probing Konkonsa’s rapid acquisition of multiple properties within a relatively short period of approximately five years of service at the Akufo-Addo Jubilee House.
