Government is to construct a cassava processing factory in the Kpandai District of the Savanna Region as part of the ‘Enable Youth Programme’ under the One district One Factory (I1D1F) initiative.

Experts who visited the district to access its potentials suggested the construction of a cassava factory in the area to among other things, create job opportunities for the people, District Chief Executive, Atta Emmanuel Kofi Tatablata, has said.

Speaking at the district’s meet-the-press series, Mr Tatablata said construction work on the factory will soon commence.

Meanhile, the DCE said 73 students from the district in various tertiary institutions across the country have been given scholarships by the Scholarship Secretariat.

Under the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) , he said a loan of 200,000 was given to 200 people in eight groups, consisting of 25 members each by the Assembly.

In 2017, the beneficiaries of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) in the district were 2,004 from 57 communities, but the currently the figure has increased to 2,964 in 73 communities.

Mr. Tatablata stated that as part of government’s effort to ensure all year round farming in district, five of the eight dams to be constructed under the One Village One Dam, are currently at various stages of completion.

He called on residents to continue to preserve the peace they are enjoying in the district so that they can continue to benefit from the good policies and programmes of the government.
