The Managing Director of the National Investment Bank PLC (NIB), Dr Doliwura Awushi Abdul-Malik Seidu Zakaria, has expressed gratitude to the government for its commitment to recapitalizing the NIB, acknowledging the allocation of GHS 2.3 billion for this purpose.

The NIB boss, appealed for the prompt release of the remaining funds as outlined in the national budget, emphasising that this financial support is crucial for NIB to enhance its competitiveness and effectively contribute to the national economy.

He led a 10-member delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, yesterday, March 27, 2025.

The visit aimed to strengthen ties between the bank and Parliament while discussing ways to enhance banking services for Members of Parliament, parliamentary staff, and the institution as a whole.

Dr Zakari also highlighted the bank’s five key strengths: an extensive nationwide presence, a team of skilled professionals, robust leadership, a customer-centric approach, and a steadfast commitment to investing in Ghana’s development

.In his concluding remarks, the Speaker, was confident that NIB was committed to working closely with Parliament, particularly by providing financial services tailored to the needs of MPs and parliamentary staff.

He also reiterated that NIB, being fully state-owned, was an investment in Ghana’s future and urged Parliament to support the bank’s growth.

He also emphasized the importance of financial sustainability for MPs and stressed the need to move away from relying on government-backed loans for personal financial needs.

Welcoming the delegation, the Speaker acknowledged the bank’s efforts to improve its services affirmed Parliament’s willingness to collaborate with NIB and assured the delegation that discussions would continue on ways to strengthen the relationship.

He expressed optimism that, with strong leadership, NIB would achieve significant growth and make a positive contribution to Ghana’s financial sector.

In further discussion, Dr Zakaria underscored NIB’s recent financial advancements, highlighting the enhancement of loan packages and banking services tailored for Members of Parliament (MPs) and the broader parliamentary community.

Significant improvements,   include increasing the value of the Salary Loan and Monitoring and Evaluation loan and introducing specialised investment packages for MPs and parliamentary staff.

He reiterated the bank’s dedication to delivering exceptional customer service, mainly through its exclusive Excel Banking Unit, designed to offer distinguished clients personalised and convenient banking solutions.
