A 15-year-old pregnant school girl was found dead on Sunday with her head cut off at Asane near Ayaase in the Assin South District of the Central Region.
The decomposing body of the headless Junior High School pupil was found without other body parts in a bush, at the outskirt of the town.
The deceased, identified as Priscila Ataa Botwey aka Atta Kakra was found lying in a supine position, stripped naked with her head which was chopped off, lying at a distance away from the body.
The attackers used her attire to cover the neck after it was cut off, according to a report by an Accra-based Kasapa FM.
The deceased, a Junior High School 1 pupil of Assin Jakai Basic School was said to be five months pregnant and lived with her grandparents in the same town.
Reports suggest that on Wednesday, 8th March 2023, at about 10 am, the deceased was seen arguing with her boyfriend, Nana Yaw, a taxi driver stationed at Abura Dunkwa over the pregnancy.
After that, the deceased and her boyfriend were not seen in the town until Sunday, March 12, 2023 in the evening when the deceased was found in a bush with her head cut off.
The grandfather of the deceased, Joseph Yankson had earlier reported to the Nyankomase Ahenkuro police command about her missing granddaughter.
Later, a farmer by name Kojo Boadi informed the girl’s grandfather that while on his way to his farm he came across flies hovering around a particular location in the bush. He said he curiously drew closer only to find out that someone has been killed and dumped in there.
He then accompanied the man to the exact location and to his surprise, the dead person was his missing granddaughter who has been gruesomely murdered.
A team of police officers from Nyankomase Ahenkuro led by Detective Lance Corporal Nii Armah Ashitey, visited the crime scene and conveyed the body to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy and preservation.
Meanwhile, the police have commenced investigation and have launched a manhunt for the boyfriend of the deceased.
