Redevelopment of Kejetia market set for completion in March if…

The first phase of the Kumasi  Kejetia redevelopment project will soon be completed and handed over to Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly. Currently, it is left with the construction of the road network, in and around the project. The consultant for the project, Mr Emmanuel Danso announced to journalists when the Kumasi Traditional Council led by Bantama hene, Baffour Owusu Amankwaatia VI toured the project site on Tuesday, 30th January 2018. He indicated that, the whole  project will be completed by March this year, if the traditional council could resolve issues and other matters impeding it’s completion. Meanwhile, the Kumasi Traditional Council is expected to meet the owners of buildings stalling completion of the project on Thursday, 1st February 2018 to resolve all outstanding issues. The Council on Monday, 29 January, 2018 ordered the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to demolish all structures delaying the project when two feuding factions, the KMA and All Stars Constructions limited, owner of a structure that had to be pulled down, were hauled before it. The Kumasi Metro Urban Road Director, Nana Opoku Agyemang, told the council that the project has delayed due to the unavailability of a parcel of land for the technical area to house water, electricity and gas installations among others. He said, until the technical area is developed, the Kejetia redevelopment project cannot be completed. He claimed the CEO of All Stars Construction Limited, Nana Karikari Asante, recently built on the road earmarked for the construction of a three-lane road to improve the road network at Kejetia. Baffour Owusu Asare Amankwatia VI after touring the project site insisted that all structures impeding the completion of the project and its beautification should be demolished.
