World-renowned reggae musician Anthony B called for a collaboration between dancehall artistes Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
Anthony B, known in real life as Keith Blair, was of the view that reggae dancehall should not be a thing of violence that will divide people but must rather keep people together in unity.
The legendary reggae artiste says even though he does not live in Africa, he was worried about stories on social media about Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy going the violent ways of Mavado and Vybz Kartel.
Anthony B, speaking in an interview with Blakk Kobby on the Reggae Vibes show on 3FM on Saturday admonished young musicians to be role models that the youth can emulate and want to be like because once “you become popular, you begin to inspire and influence the youth and must take that as a responsibility”.
He said it will feel good if Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy collaborate on a song and perform it together but was quick to add that, even though he saw Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy ride a bike together, nobody must force them to do a collaboration.
He explained that both of them are entertainers and problems may come up when you force people to do something or act.
Anthony B advised the youth not to buy into the negative part of the content of the music but rather get inspired by the music.
He noted that Mavado and Vybz Kartel after realising that their beef was becoming violent quickly came together in something he called showmanship.
The artiste is out with a new album ‘King In My Castle’ which he says is going to liberate the youth.
Anthony B believes that there is nothing wrong with young musicians going into competitions but not in a manner that would lead to violence in society.
Anthony B is currently in Jamaica, from where he spoke to Blakk Kobby via telephone.
The awarding-winning reggae show is live on 3FM 92.7 every Saturday between 4pm-6pm.
