Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has penned an appeal to judges of the country’s courts to be guided by the dictates of Article 296 of the 1992 Constitution.
He alleged that some of these judges are following “unseen instructions” and this could spell doom for them in future.
“Your decision shall become part of the public record and posterity will judge you accordingly,” he wrote on Facebook on Friday, April 17.
“Please apply your legal brain, common sense and abide by your judicial oath,” he advised.
It is unclear what may have instigated this post but many believe it may be an insinuation regarding a High Court decision on the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
The High Court had ordered the OSP to cede all cases to the Attorney General from whom authority must be sought for all prosecutions.
The Effutu Member of Parliament (MP) stressed that judges must consider their courts a “court of justice”, insinuating that some are doing the bidding of the current government.
“The NDC government is on its way out of power,” he stated.
“The tables will turn in 2028. For your peace, stay away from politics.
“Let politicians do their politics and simply observe.”
