The Spokesperson of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has taken exception to the press release issued by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) following his detention.
Dennis Miracles Aboagye was only released on Tuesday night after meeting his bail conditions of GH¢50 million with three sureties, two to be justified.
Writing on his official Facebook page after his release, the former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD) said nothing whatsoever concerning his time at the Secretariat was discussed with him while in custody.
“A false narrative was put out about my arrest, but Ghanaians are not fools, and neither are the good people of the New Patriotic Party,” he wrote.
“The facts and the truth, will prevail.
“For the records: there was no discussion of any GH¢55 million with me by EOCO. None!!!”
The Office had adduced that Mr Miracles Aboagye was under investigations for misappropriating GH¢55 million while at the helm of IMCCoD following a forensic audit.
It even said one Gilbert Appiah, with whom Mr Miracles Aboagye had carried out the deal, had begun to refund part of the monies.
The firebrand party communicator claims since his arrest came barely a day after declaring his intentions to contest NPP’s National Communications Director position, it was meant to break him.
He said fuel has rather been added to “fire”.
“Let me be clear: if the intention was to break me, it has failed.
“If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly.
“I will lead New Patriotic Party’s communications Directorate to command the narrative, and no cell, no false story, no intimidation will change that.
“Fuel, has only been added to fire.”
He expressed gratitude to party faithful, supporters, leadership and his legal team for the show solidarity.
“This journey is no longer mine alone. It is ours. We move. Stronger. Louder. Together.Built to Lead. Ready to Win.”
