Power cuts, technical hitches, intermittent delays and a ‘no show’ by dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and rapper Sarkodie took the shine off the Livespot X Festival, headlined by American rapper, Cardi B.
Unhappy with the turn of events, frustrated fans pelted organisers and asked for a refund.
Hundreds of patrons who showed up at the Accra Sports Stadium Sunday night were left disappointed as they had to wait for hours before the show officially began.
The show was to start at 8:00 p.m. but it was until 10:30 p.m. that it got underway without any explanation whatsoever from organisers.
Cardi B was advertised to perform alongside Ghanaian A-list artistes, including Sarkodie, Shatta Wale , Joey B but things did not go as planned.
While the show was ongoing, organisers kept assuring the fans that Shatta Wale and Sarkodie were at the backstage readying themselves to perform for the crowd but it turned out that was a hoax.
It was only Eno Barony, Guru, Becca, Medikal and a few others who mounted the stage to perform, but even that did not appease the patrons.
Fans who were obviously angered by the situation, resorted to throwing empty bottles and stones onto the stage at a point when they realised they were being taken for granted
Some of those who spoke to 3news.com lashed out at organizers for the poor manner in which the show was organized.
“I think it is a very poorly organized event. The gate was opened at 2:00. I can see that Accra was an afterthought, I think it is very disrespectful,” one patron said.
Another added: “I think it’s deplorable, because all they’ve had are MCs, DJs come in the last couple of hours.”
“I have never witnessed a boring programme like this before,” one of them stated
Some of them also demanded for a refund of their monies, insisting since they did not get value for their money.
At about 1:30 a.m Monday morning, Cardi B who was gingered up, mounted the stage to perform for about an hour, dishing out some rap lines.
