Three District Chief Executives are contesting in the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primaries in four orphan constituencies in the Western Region.

They are District Chief Executive of Wassa East Wilson Arthur, District Chief Executive of Ellembelle Kwasi Bonzo and District Chief Executive of Amenfi Central Patrick Hockson Amponteng.

For both District Chief executives for Ellembelle and Wassa East, Saturday’s primaries will be their third attempt to go to parliament.

They failed in their bid to represent their respective constituencies in parliament in the 2012 and 2016 parliamentary candidate.

For Mr Amponteng, this will be his second attempt to go to parliament. He was not successful in 2016.

In all, 2509 delegates will take part in the parliamentary primaries in four out of the 17 constituencies in the Western Region.

They are Wassa East, Amenfi Central, Amenfi West and Ellembelle.

There are 11 aspirants in total.

There are three aspirants for Ellembelle. They are Kwasi Bonzo (DCE), Anna Horma Akaisi Miezah (regional treasurer) and Isaac Menlah. A total of 653 delegates are expected to vote.

At Wassa East, a total of 625 are expected to vote. District Chief Executive Wilson Arthur is running unopposed.

Amenfi West has five aspirants. They are Paul Dekyi (2016 aspirant), Abraham Kofi Asante, Ignatius Kwasi Afrifa, Ernest Abakah Aidoo and Dr. Joseph Kwadwo Danquah. The voting delegates are 615.

A total of 616 delegates will decide who wins at Amenfi Central. There are 2 aspirants. They are Patrick Hickson Amponten and Alhaji Mohammed Abass.

Western Region Secretary of the New Patriotic Party Charles Bissue told 3news.com that all the necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure an incident free primaries.

“At the end of the election we hope that the delegates will elect winnable candidates who will also be able to work to advance the policy positions of our great party the NPP”.

Western Region Director of the Electoral Commission Mrs. Angela Tagoe in an interview said all the voting registers have been secured including “other voting materials that will guarantee a free and fair election”
