As part of the 2018 International Day of the Girl, TV3’s news anchor Wendy Laryea was in Nsutam in the Eastern Region to mentor some select school girls.
The event was also used to launch the ‘Girls Get Equal’ campaign by Plan International Ghana.
Wendy Laryea told the girls about her career as a broadcast journalist, urging them to pursue to the letter their dream goals.
The Ghana Journalists’ Association (GJA) President, Roland Affail Monney, Dutch Ambassador Ron Strikker, Plan International Ghana Director Solomon Tesfamariam and some government officials were there to deliver solidarity messages.
She was also at the Trinity Academy in Dome earlier to talk to girls about menstrual hygiene and reusable sanitary pads.
That programme was organized by non-governmental organization Days for Girls Ghana in partnership with Wendy Laryea’s Inspire To Rise, which is a non-profit initiative founded primarily to aid the youth in Ghana into realising their identity, potential and place in society.
Wendy Laryea is a Unicef Menstrual Hygiene Ambassador.
The programme was dedicated to reproductive health training for the girls.
Days for Girls focuses on breaking the cycle of disempowerment by increasing access to menstrual hygiene care and education and creating a world with dignity, health and opportunity for all.
The event at Trinity Academy was part of the 2018 Global Girls Festival.
