Despite the assurance to announce hosts by December 31, 2018, the Confederation of African Football (Caf) will do that next year rather.
An extraordinary meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, January 9 to decide which country hosts the 32nd edition of the tournament.
Caf stripped the original hosts, Cameroon, of the rights after declaring them not adequately prepared for the continent’s flagship international football tournament.
With the expansion from 16 teams to 24, Caf was looking out for a nation with adequate facilities for the tournament, which has moved from January-February to June-July.
Interested countries have been given up to Friday, December 14 to submit bids for the tournament.
Already, there have been reports that South Africa has been approached to host the tourney.
Morocco are said to be interested while a surprise name has been Congo for the tournament.
