Kevin Prince Boateng is set to join FC Barcelona for the rest of the 2018/19 season from Italian club Sassuolo.

FC Barcelona and US Sassuolo have arrived at an agreement for the loan of the player Kevin-Prince Boateng for the remainder of the 2018/19 season.

The agreement includes an €8m purchase option.

The player will be presented on Tuesday, 22 January, with the following events:

-11.30am, contract signing in the President Suñol Box, in a private ceremony.
-12.15pm, photo session on the field at Camp Nou.
-1.00pm, press conference at Camp Nou.

Adding experience and versatility to the team

Born in Berlin on 6 March 1987, Kevin-Prince Boateng is a player who will surely adapt quickly to the team.

With experience of playing in four of the biggest leagues in Europe, the Premier League, the Bundesliga, Serie A and La Liga, he is a man who has scored goals wherever he has been.

Furthermore, Boateng is a player who versatile to a fault. During his time with Las Palmas with Quique Setién as coach he played as an out and out striker, a typical number ‘9’.

However, he is also able to play further back as he did at AC Milan, scoring twice against Barça in his time with the rossoneri.

His ability to bring people into the game means he is excellent at playing behind the main striker.

10 goals in La Liga

He began his career with his home town club of Hertha, making his Bundesliga debut on 13 August 2005.

In 2007 he signed for Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Borussia Dortmund for six months. Boateng’s sojourn back in Germany was cut short by a return to the Premier League and a move to Portsmouth.

After appearing for Ghana in 2010 for the first of his two World Cup appearances, Boateng made the move to Serie A signing for AC Milan where he won a scudetto and the Italian Super Cup.

In Lombardy he coincided with former blaugranes Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ronaldinho.

A short spell with Schalke 04 was followed by a return to AC Milan for six months before the former Ghanaian international made his way to La Liga with Las Palmas. In the 2016/17 season he scored 10 goals for the island side before a return to Germany with Eintract Frankfurt the following campaign.

In the summer of 2018 he moved to Sassuolo, which the Club maintains a good relationship, where he scored 4 goals in 13 matches in Serie A.
