Tiger Eye P.I., led by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has rubbished reports that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has exonerated former Chairman of the inter-ministerial committee on illegal mining, Charles Bissue who is being investigated for corruption.

  • Presidential staffer, 5 officers exonerated of corruption for ‘lack of evidence’

Charles Bissue and five police officers were caught allegedly taking bribe to circumvent laid down processes for acquiring mining licences in Anas’s Galamsey Fraud exposé .

The Tiger Eye P.I. has since petitioned the Special Prosecutor on the matter to have the suspects investigated while government also requested for the raw footage of exposé for further investigations.

However, a CID report emerged Monday, July 22, suggesting that Charles Bissue and the five officers have been cleared of any wrongdoing.

“At the conclusion of investigations, based on the available evidence, none of the suspects was found to be culpable for any offence,” the leaked Police CID report sighted by 3news.com stated.

  • Presidential staffer, others caught in ‘galamsey’ deals in latest Anas video

“None of the suspects in the case including suspect Charles Bissue was found to have circumvented the laid down procedure of the inter-ministerial committee on illegal mining in favour of ORR Resources Enterprise,” it added.

But the Tiger Eye P.I. in reaction to the police report said, “the involvement of the Ghana Police Service in the said investigation has been nothing but needlessly duplicitous and superfluous and a total waste of resources”.

According to the Tiger Eye team, they did not involve the police in the matter and could thus not fathom why the police “conducted itself in this matter as an unhappy unsolicited busybody with no real substance to inform a decision”.

They explained it was only the special prosecutor they petitioned and that they have at all material moment cooperated with the office for his investigations.

They advised that the police take off their hands completely from the Charles Bissue investigations and concentrate on the murder of their colleague, Ahmed Suale and the kidnapped Takoradi girls.

Meanwhile, the Tiger Eye  P.I said the Special Prosecutor is making steady progress in the investigation, with their last engagement with him being July 19 when they were given an additional witness statement form.

“So far as we are concerned, the matter is still under investigation and we await the final outcome of the process by the Office of the Special Prosecutor”, Tiger Eye P.I. reiterated.
