Week five of the Ghana Women’s Premier League treated fans to some thrilling and exciting football outcomes at the weekend in both the northern and southern zones.

While several of the top stars struggle to stamp their authority on the league, some are doing amazing things.

With 10 goals in five matches, Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah has taken the league by storm. Her three goals helped the Ampem Ladies secure a mouthwatering 7-1 victory over Supreme Ladies in Kumasi to close the gap on northern zone leaders, Prison’s ladies.

Ophelia won the Nasco Player of the Game

Sensational Ophelia Serwaa is excited for her amazing skills.

“I’m very happy for all my goals but I’m grateful to my teammates, they have contributed to this success and I want do more and win the best player this season in the Women’s Premier League,” she said.

For Prison Ladies, they maintained their good form and top spot with a clinical 2-1 win over Ash Town ladies.

Sandra Atinga and Benedicta Nana Duku scored to give Kumasi Sports Academy their second win in the season as they beat City rivalry Fabulous Ladies 2-1.

Elsewhere, Northern Ladies and Pearl Pia Ladies played out a goalless draw.

Hasaacas Ladies meanwhile, continued their perfect run scoring 18 goals in the last three games.

Head Coach Yusif Basigi praised his girls for their excellent performance.

“Our endurance level is very high and tactically we are playing very well. They always contain their opponents and take advantage of any lose balls. For statistics, in all our matches that we have scored 9-0, 4-0 and 5-0 many of the goals are scored in the second half that tells you that our endurance level is high and we Hassacas Ladies are back in the game and ready for everyone,” he said.

There are the strugglers though. Immigration Ladies are still in search of their first win of the season as they were held to a 2-2 drawn game at the McDan Park against Samaria Ladies.
