A scuffle between personnel of the Ghana Police Service and some members of the Adomfe community in the Ashanti region has left one person dead.
Reports suggest the police had used excessive force in an attempt to apprehend two suspected drug peddlers.
The 33 year old commercial driver, Kofi Ampomah died after a fierce battle with the police on the night of Tuesday October 15, 2019.
The lifeless body of the deceased shows deep cuts on her neck region and his upper lip.
Blood stains could be seen at where the incident happened.
According to an eyewitness “the police came in search of drug peddlers, but that mission failed. Because they could not gather any substantial evidence they turned their anger on our brother and stabbed him to death”.
Some of the community members suspected a foul play, stating, “I am sure they came here to kill Ampomah.”

Another eyewitness had issue with how the police were dressed, questioning how “a policeman can wear a sandals and say he is effecting an arrest?”.
Meanwhile, a clearly angry community on Thursday morning demonstrated against the police service.
“They tried to suffocate him to death, but because Kofi is so strong they stoned him at one point; Sule (a police officer) went to the police vehicle for a dagger to slash him in the process. He was then taken to the outskirts of the town and sniff the life out of him” a resident recounted.
Gloomy atmosphere had gripped the family house of the victim, when the news team got there. The head of the deceased family Kofi Appiah says the family is distraught by the incident and demanded, “we want justice.”
The deceased left behind two children and a wife.
