Legon Cities football club forward Asamoah Gyan has said he is not in the right physical condition to play competitive football currently but will use his experience until he gains his fitness back.
Gyan, who was inactive for about 8 months, joined Legon Cities Football Club in the just-ended transfer window and has said it will take a little while before he can hit the ground running because of his current physical condition.
Speaking to Juliet Bawuah on the Ghana Premier League Preview Show on TV3, the Black Stars all-time leading top scorer admitted that he is currently not ready for a competitive match.
“Honestly, I’m not ready to play a competitive match right now but I have to use my experience to make it gradually until I get 100 percent fit and when I’m fully fit, everybody will see it on the field, that is what I want to do and be scoring goals too,” he said.
On when he will return to full fitness to probably bang in the goals, the former Sunderland attacker said much of it will be dependent on him.
“Staying for eight months without playing is quite a long time, so everything will depend on my daily routines because sometimes, it can even be shorter than expected, so everything will depend on me,” the 34-year old concluded.
Legon Cities will open their Ghana Premier League campaign at home to Berekum Chelsea and Gyan is a doubt for the game.
