Renowned legal practitioner Ace Anan Ankomah was on Monday, February 24 handed a judgement by an Accra High Court in the case he brought against popular Facebook presenter Kevin Ekow Taylor of With All Due Respect fame.
Despite failing to show up in court, US-based Mr Taylor and his Loud Silence Media firm were sentenced to pay a total of GH¢2.95 million in damages to the plaintiff.
It was about the broadcast on Facebook and Youtube of a show in July, 2019 by the first defendant, Mr Taylor, alleging that Mr Ankomah had a hand in the arrest of Nana Appiah Mensah in Dubai.
Kevin Taylor alleged that the arrest of Mr Mensah, popularly known as NAM1, in the UAE was all Mr Ankomah’s fault.
He said the renowned lawyer had colluded with his uncle, KK Amoah, a former head of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), to leave some investors from UAE, Horizon Company, off the hook.
Lawyer Ankomah denied the allegations and accused the defendant of defaming and tarnishing his hard-earned reputation.
He sought a GH¢10 million damage against Mr Taylor.
But the Court presided over by Justice Kweku Ackaah-Boafo granted GH¢2 million in compensatory damages, GH¢500,000 for aggravated damages and GH¢400,000 for exemplary damages. Finally, a cost of GH¢50,000 was imposed on Mr Taylor.
He was also enjoined not to further broadcast any material on the plaintiff.
