Interim coach of Hearts of Oak Edward Nii Odoom says he knew his side will record a goal fest in their Ghana Premier League clash with city rivals Great Olympics given the scoring form at training prior to the game.
The Phobians beat Great Olympics 4-0 Wednesday night at the Accra Stadium in their highest win this season.
The match was a Match Day 14 fixture with Hearts of Oak playing as the home side.
Benjamin Afutu got a brace in a man-of-the-match display while Joseph Esso and Dan Afriyie also recorded their names on the score sheet.
The win sent the Phobians up to seventh on the log with the losers, Great Olympics, hovering in the relegation zone. They are 15th on the 18-team log.
After the game, an elated Nii Odoom said he was least surprised about the result.
“We have been playing well but the scoring was not coming,” he admitted, “but since Monday we started to work on the scoring.”
“So at [Tuesday’s] training ground I saw that my boys were scoring. Twenty minutes in a small-sided game, they had scored nine goals and another 15 minutes, they were able to score six.
“So, I was happy that it will reflect in the game.”
Hearts’ next game will be at Techiman, the adopted home grounds of King Faisal Babes.
That match will be played on Sunday, March 16.
