Ghana’s waste management giant, Zoomlion, has begun fumigating and disinfecting all senior high schools across the country in a move to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
The fumigation and disinfection exercise at the schools comes followed a similar exercise carried out in various markets across the country by District Assemblies. In all, over 900 market centers were disinfected across 13 regions in the country.
The first phase of the exercise launched Tuesday at the Accra Girls’ Senior High School, will see the company fumigate the schools which have since March 16 been closed down by the government following the outbreak of the pandemic.
The second phase will involve the disinfection.
Speaking at the launch, Minister for Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, reiterated the government’s commitment to the fight against the deadly novel virus.
He said the exercise comes at a time that all pragmatic measures to curb the spread of the deadly virus must be activated.
Present at the launch was the Director of the Ghana Education Service, Prof. Kwapong Opoku Amankwaah, Board Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies and the Executive Chairman of the JOSPONG Group of Companies Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong among others.
Meanwhile, Zoomlion has announced it is extending the disinfection exercise to corporate Ghana.
