The African Public Relations Association (APRA) has postponed its 2020 Tanzania conference to May 2021 as a result of the devastating effect of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic across the globe.
The decision was reached after a thorough assessment of the current situation and the “economic repercussions” the pandemic will have across the continent.
It also took into consideration the financial pressures the conference may bring to members should it be held this year.
A statement co-signed by APRA Secretary General, Jane Gitau, and PRST President, Loth Makuza, assured members of a series of webinars that will “help members benefit from some of the valuable content they would have received at the conference”.
The association has also asked members to reach out to the APRA Coordinator for all inquiries as regards visas, payments and any further information.
Meanwhile, the association has thrown its support behind the #StayInReachOUT initiative which focuses on ensuring that social distancing does not lead to social isolation and challenges all members to get involved.
It also calls on members to stay home and stay safe while avoiding the spread of fake news and obeying the directives their governments and the World Health Organization (WHO).
