Zongo Ministry’s Chief Internal Auditor appointed to serve on IDEA’s committee

The Chief Internal Auditor and Head of the Internal Audit Directorate of the Ministry of Inner-City and Zongo Development (MICZD) has been appointed to serve on the Finance and Audit Committee of the International Institute for Democratic and Electoral Assistance (IDEA).

Mr Isaac Adjin Bonney who was nominated by the Minister for Inner-City and Zongo Development, Dr Mustapha Abdul- Hamid with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration will be serving on the IDEA committee from July 1, 2020 to July 2023.

A letter dated April 27, 2020, signed by the Secretary-General of IDEA, Dr Kevin Casas-Zamora and copied to Mr Johannes Heller, the Chairman of the Finance and Audit Committee reads “I would like to inform you that the Council of Member States of the International for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, during its 16th Extraordinary Session held on 23 April 2020, has appointed you to serve as a Member of the Finance and Audit Committee for the period of I July 2020 to 1 July 2023.

“Let me take this opportunity to convey my sincere congratulations on your appointment to the Finance and Audit Committee.

“Your expertise and engagement in the committee’s work will benefit and strength International IDEA’s programmes.”

Speaking to the media shortly after the letter announcing his appointment was handed over to him, Isaac Adjin Bonney took the opportunity to thank the sector Minister for the confidence reposed in him.

He pledged to serve diligently to bring laurels to the Ministry.

He further thanked the Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway and Member of Parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency in the Greater Accra Region for the government’s support and the Embassy of Denmark for their support.

Profile of Isaac Adgin Bonney

Mr. Isaac Adjin Bonney is the founder of the Yennob Ventures, a consulting firm.

He is a Chartered Accountant, Certified Forensic Investigation and an Internal Auditor by profession.

He is with the Ministry of Inner-Cities and Zongo Development as the Head of the Internal Audit Directorate.

Previously, he worked with the Ministry of Health for eight years (during the period he was posted to Pantang Nursing Training College and Midwifery & Health Assistants Training School – Pantang) and rose from the rank of Senior Internal Auditor to a Chief Internal Auditor.

He was also the Head of the Internal Audit Unit at the National Cardiothoracic Centre, Korle Bu from 2014 to 2019.

Prior to becoming an Auditor, he was a Business Manager and Tutor at Morning Glory International School, Abidjan from 1998 to 2009. He also lectured full time at Graduate School of Management, Abidjan and part-time at Institut Britannique de Management et de Technology (IBMT-Côte d’Ivoire) and Institut Universitaire d’Abidjan (IUA).

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting Option) from Valley View University.

He graduated from Valley View University in 2004, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and proceeded further in 2008 to pursue a Master’s Degree in Finance and Accounting at the British Institute of Management and Technology, Côte d’Ivoire.

He has over sixteen (16) years of professional experience in accounting, internal controls, auditing, finance and taxation.

He is a member of various professional bodies like Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), Institute of Internal Auditors Ghana and Global (IIA), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professional (IICFIP), Institute of Public Accountants-Australia (IPA), Institute of Financial Accountants-UK (IFA) and recently inducted via zoom into the Institute of Directors-Ghana (IoD-Ghana).

Not only is he a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana but also the Coordinator of all the District Societies of ICAG. Locally, also he doubles as the General Secretary of Ga North District Society of ICAG.

He is an examiner for the course Introduction to Management Accounting at Level 1 of the ICA Professional Examination.

He is also a member of 2 committees of the ICAG Council, Membership and ICT Committees.

Isaac served on the Board of Trustees for the Health Sector Occupational Pension Scheme (Tier 2 for all the Health Sector workers) from 2013 to 2016.

He is the Chairman of the Audit Committees of the Tema General Hospital, National Board for Professional and Technical Examinations and a member of the Audit Committees of Accra Metropolitan Assembly.

Mr. Bonney is the President of the Men’s Ministry of Calvary Baptist Church.
