Renowned Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) specialist, Mr. Eric Siaw Nartey, has been officially nominated for the AfriSAFE Professional of the Year Award as part of the prestigious Africa Safety Award For Excellence (AfriSAFE) 2025.

This recognition places Mr. Nartey among the continent’s top safety professionals whose contributions have significantly impacted health and safety standards across Africa and beyond. The nomination was based on peer recommendations and professional achievements submitted via the AfriSAFE website.

AfriSAFE, Africa’s largest and most influential HSE platform, is endorsed by leading international and governmental institutions including the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Kenya. The 2025 edition of the event is set to take place in Mombasa, Kenya, from November 13–14, 2024, featuring a hybrid format that includes the Africa Safety Congress (in partnership with WSPAK), a vibrant HSE exhibition, and the prestigious award ceremony.

Currently serving as the HSEQ Manager for HOT HED® INTERNATIONAL in Qatar, Mr. Nartey has over a decade of high-impact experience across the oil & gas, energy, infrastructure, and construction sectors. His leadership in implementing ISO-aligned safety systems, behavior-based safety models, and regulatory compliance frameworks has been widely celebrated, earning his organization the 2024 North Oil Company (NOC) Outstanding HSE Award—a historic first.

Reacting to the nomination, Mr. Nartey stated:

“I am deeply honored to be recognized on such a prestigious platform. This nomination is not just a personal milestone, but a reflection of the collective efforts of every professional committed to making African workplaces safer and more sustainable. I dedicate this to every frontline worker, safety practitioner, and mentor who has walked this journey with me.”

A certified member of IOSH UK, a graduate member of GhISEP, and an MSc-holder in Occupational Health, Safety & Risk Management, Mr. Nartey continues to inspire through his community outreach, safety mentoring, and policy advocacy.

About AfriSAFE

AfriSAFE is recognized as the largest HSE platform in Africa, attracting participants from over 20 countries. It is endorsed by global institutions such as the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and supported by national regulators including Kenya’s Ministry of Labour and Social Protection (DOSH).

The 2025 edition of AfriSAFE will be held in Mombasa, Kenya, from November 13–14, and will feature:

•             The Africa Safety Congress, hosted in collaboration with the Workplace Safety Professionals Association of Kenya (WSPAK)

•             An industry-wide HSE exhibition

•             The prestigious AfriSAFE Award Ceremony and Cultural Night

Professional Profile

With over a decade of international experience across energy, infrastructure, and construction sectors, Mr. Nartey is known for embedding ISO-aligned safety systems, risk-based performance frameworks, and behavior-based safety (BBS) programs.

He holds:

•             An MSc in Occupational Health, Safety & Risk Management

•             Certifications as a Lead Auditor in ISO 45001, 14001, & 9001

•             Membership with IOSH (UK), World Safety Organization – Qatar Chapter and GhISEP (Ghana)

In addition to his corporate work, Mr. Nartey is actively involved in community safety advocacy, professional mentoring, and youth capacity-building both in Ghana and the Middle East.

Impact Beyond Borders

Mr. Nartey’s nomination is not only a personal achievement but a national milestone for Ghana’s SHEQ community. His leadership continues to inspire the next generation of safety professionals across Africa, reinforcing the continent’s push toward safer, more sustainable industrial practices.

As preparations intensify ahead of AfriSAFE 2025, Mr. Nartey’s nomination brings pride not only to Ghana but also to the broader African safety community—proving once again that excellence in HSE leadership knows no boundaries
