NBA veteran Marcus Morris Sr. was arrested on Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Florida. The incident happened at an airport in Broward County, Fort Lauderdale.
According to Local 10, Morris was taken into custody over a fraud charge. The charge relates to a check he allegedly wrote with insufficient funds.

He is currently being held at the Broward County Main Jail. Reports indicate it’s an out-of-state hold. The arrest drew a strong reaction from his twin brother, Markieff Morris.
Markieff, also an NBA veteran, voiced his frustration on X (formerly Twitter).
“The wording is crazy,” he posted. “Damn for that amount of money they’ll embarrass you in the airport with your family. They got y’all really thinking bro did some fraud s—.”
He continued: “They could have came to the crib for all that. When y’all hear the real story on this s— man… lesson learned. Bro will tell y’all tomorrow. This weird s— gave me a headache. Can’t stop nothin!”
Marcus Morris Sr. has played 13 seasons in the NBA. Over his career, he’s appeared in 832 games for eight different teams.
In the 2023/24 season, he suited up for both the Philadelphia 76ers and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
He played 37 games with the Sixers and 12 with the Cavs. Morris was originally drafted 14th overall by the Houston Rockets in 2011.
He’s also had stints with the Suns, Pistons, Celtics, Clippers, Knicks, and Sixers. During the 2024–25 preseason, he signed a two-week deal with the Knicks, according to Spanish publication MARCA.
But he was released before the regular season began. Now 35, the free agent forward faces an uncertain future, on and off the court.
