President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier is to embark on a state visit to Ghana from Sunday, November 2 to Tuesday, November 4.
According to a statement from the government, the visit will officially begin on Monday with President Steinmeier’s inspection of a full military Guard of Honour at the forecourt of the Jubilee House.
He will then hold a closed-door meeting with President John Dramani Mahama before joining their respective delegations for bilateral talks.
Discussions are expected to focus on strengthening Ghana-Germany relations, particularly in areas of trade, investment, technology and development cooperation.
A state luncheon will be held in his honour at the Presidential Banquet Hall.
Later in the day, President Steinmeier will tour the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where he will lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s first President.
He will later attend a reception at the residence of the German Ambassador and that will be preceded by an engagement of young Ghanaian IT specialists.
On Tuesday, November 4, President Steinmeier will travel to Kumasi, specifically to the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI), where he will cut sod for a project.
He will, then, proceed to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to interact with the Vice Chancellor, staff and alumni before visiting the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR).
He will pay a courtesy call on Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace before his departure on Tuesday evening.
