Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings has been laid to rest.
Ghana’s longest-serving First Lady, Nana Konadu was laid to rest at the Military Cemetery in Burma Camp, the same place her late husband, Flt. Lt. (rtd) Jerry John Rawlings, was buried.
She was, however, interred at the National Memorial Section of the cemetery, next to former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan.
The burial ceremony, held privately by close relatives including her children, followed a state funeral held at the Black Star Square early Friday.
Tributes were read by mourners including the 31st December Women’s Movement, National Democratic Congress (NDC), National Democratic Party (NDP), Old Achimotans Association (OAA) and cadres of the NDC.
Among the mourners were former Liberia President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma and first ladies of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Equatorial Guinea.
Mrs Rawlings died on Thursday, October 23 at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge after a short illness.
