Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Mama Pat, has formally retracted allegations she made earlier this year about gospel musician Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye, according to a statement issued Thursday December 4 by Agyaa Asamani Law Consult.
The law firm said Asiedua made the posts in May in response to comments directed at her by politician Hopeson Adorye. Her reaction, lawyers noted, was “in the spur of the moment,” but the statements were widely interpreted as accusing Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye of immoral conduct — claims the firm now describes as entirely unfounded.
In the release, signed by attorney Richard Asare Bediako, Asiedua “unequivocally” acknowledged that the allegations were false and “completely without merit.” She has retracted the statements in full.
The apology, described as “unqualified and sincere,” extends not only to Empress Gifty but also to her family, friends and professional associates, who the firm said suffered distress as a result of the publications. The statement emphasised that Asiedua regrets the harm caused to the musician’s personal and professional reputation.
Agyaa Asamani Law Consult, said the retraction is intended to bring closure to the matter and reaffirm the importance of responsible communication on social media.
The firm did not indicate whether further legal action had been considered or whether the parties had reached any additional settlement.
