The Minority in Parliament has raised concerns on the floor following a letter of notice written by the Clerk to Parliament to the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC).
The letter, dated Thursday, December 4, 2025 and signed by Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, notified the Chair of the EC, Jean Mensa, on the vacancy of the Kpandai seat following a High Court ruling.
The High Court in Tamale, presided over by His Lordship Justice Emmanuel Brew-Plange on Monday, November 24 declared the results of the December 7, 2024 parliamentary elections in the Kpandai Constituency as null and void, calling for a rerun within 30 days.
When the issue first came up on the floor of Parliament, raised by Majority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekor, Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin called for a reprieve for Matthew Nyindam, who had served notice of appealing the judgement.
However, in the face of the Clerk’s notice, the Minority raised the issue again on Tuesday, December 9.
Clad in black, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members (MPs) expressed displeasure at the action of the Clerk.
They demanded immediate recall of the notice.
“We are totally against it,” they are heard as demanding, disrupting proceedings in the House.
