The final funeral rites of late Highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, have been suspended yet again.
This follows the adjournment of a case brought before an Accra High Court by his immediate family.
The judge adjourned the case to Thursday, January 15, 2026.
The immediate family led by sisters of the deceased musician, Ernestina Akosua Bimpomaa and Faustina Fosu, brought the case before the High Court to stop the extended family, led by Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, from organising the funeral on Saturday, December 13.
According to the applicants, by Akan tradition, it is the immediate family that has the authority to take custody of the body after its release for burial.
The Court ruled that the entire family should confer and agree on the date for the funeral.
This should be done within three weeks, the Court ordered.
After hearing on Thursday, December 11, Evangelist Papa Shee, real name Nana Yaw Akosah, a family friend, announced that the funeral will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
“That date was not from me,” he corrected on Onua TV after Friday’s ruling.
“It is from the family. I usually act as a spokesman of the family and they asked me to announce it.”
He also added that the ruling by the judge is not victory for any of the parties but to God.
“Victory has not gone to anybody but God. He is a God of justice and God loves the vulnerable, particularly widows, so that is it.”
