President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Abuja, Nigeria for the 68th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The Session is scheduled to take place at the Presidential Villa on Sunday, December 14.
President Mahama was welcomed at the Namdi Azikiwe International Airport by Foreign Minister Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria Ambassador Baba Jamal and other senior officials of the Ghana mission in Abuja.
The 68th Ordinary Session is expected to bring together ECOWAS leaders to deliberate on key regional priorities including the future of the Community.
President Mahama is expected to take part in a closed-door session focused on the strategic direction of the Community, political stability, regional security, and economic integration.
Key agenda items for the session include:
• Pronouncements on the Future of the ECOWAS Community
• Presentation of the 2025 Annual Report on the State of the Community
• Reports on regional security, ongoing mediation efforts, and the political transition in Guinea
• Review of the ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme (ETLS)End.
