The Navrongo Divisional Police Command has conducted a special anti-crime operation as part of heightened security measures ahead of the Christmas festivities.
The operation, carried out on Wednesday, December 18, 2025, began at about 6 p.m. and targeted identified crime hotspots across the Navrongo township. Police said the exercise was aimed at deterring criminal activity and ensuring the safety of residents during the festive season.
According to the command, eight suspects were arrested in connection with suspected criminal activities during the operation. The suspects were identified as Mohammed Nasiru, 35; Pwoawuvi Isaac, 24; Roger Kansah, 35; Akinkana Akanpiiba, 30; Kingsley Adafula, 22; Abraham Akanporise, 25; Zakaria Mohammed, 25; and Clinton Atinmoliga, 25.
Items retrieved during the exercise included quantities of tramadol tablets, seven pairs of scissors, a mobile phone, a television set and a motorcycle. Police believe the recovered items may be linked to criminal acts within the area.
The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and will be screened. Those found culpable, police said, will be arraigned before court to face prosecution in accordance with the law.
The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order before, during and after the Christmas season, and has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
