The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted 30 officers in recognition of their exemplary performance during major security operations in the Ashanti Region.
The promotions, effected on Monday, January 5, 2026, followed successful operations that led to the retrieval of 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition at the Kantanso Asankare Police Barrier and the dismantling of a robbery syndicate along the Antoakrom–Manso Nkwanta stretch during the Christmas season.
The IGP said the decision reflects the Police Administration’s commitment to recognising professionalism, vigilance and dedication to duty. Officers promoted in connection with the Kantanso Asankare operation include Chief Inspector Tibim Acheampong Solomon, Inspector Sarfo Adu Daniel and several non-commissioned officers and constables.

During that operation, police officers conducted a detailed search of a bus and discovered two concealed containers holding 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition. A further search uncovered a bag hidden beneath the driver’s seat containing two bulletproof plates, a crushed black helmet and a pair of long boots.
In addition, 20 personnel from the Intelligence units of the Ashanti and Ashanti South Regional Police Commands were promoted for their roles in intelligence-led operations at Manso Nkwanta, Antoakrom and surrounding communities. Those operations resulted in the recovery of firearms and ammunition, the disruption of armed robbery activities and the prevention of planned attacks on commuters.
Commending the officers, Mr Yohuno and members of the Police Management Board said their actions prevented dangerous weapons from falling into criminal hands. The IGP urged all police personnel to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, assuring them that dedication and hard work would continue to be recognised and rewarded.
