The Ghana Education Service (GES) has addressed concerns arising from a viral video showing an alleged feeding issue at Savelugu Senior High School.
In an official statement, GES emphasised that the quality of student feeding remains a top priority. Management described any mismanagement of the feeding programme as a serious offence, highlighting its potential to undermine the government’s commitment to supporting students’ welfare.
The Service acknowledged that, overall, student feeding across the country has improved significantly, thanks to a coordinated effort between the Buffer Stock Company and school administrations.
GES assured the public, particularly parents, that the Savelugu incident is an isolated case and does not reflect the standard of feeding nationwide. Investigations into the matter have already been launched to establish the facts.
To further strengthen oversight, the GES Monitoring Team will increase unannounced visits to schools to ensure compliance with feeding standards. School heads and other stakeholders are urged to promptly report any irregularities or challenges to Management for timely intervention.
Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, reiterated the Service’s commitment to maintaining a high-quality feeding programme and safeguarding students’ health and nutrition.
This proactive response reflects GES’s dedication to accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement in student welfare initiatives.
